Wood U18s hit NINE

Boreham Wood U18s moved a step closer to retaining the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League title with a 9-2 thrashing of AFC Dunstable U18s.

Wood struggled to get into a good rhythm and went behind after just five minutes, but they responded instantly, Shane Johnson grabbing the goal.

Johnson provided another fine finish to put the visitors ahead a few minutes later and, within eight minutes of his opener, the same player had completed his hat-trick.

The hosts managed to pull one back before the break, but Wood hit a fourth, Lewis Donovan heading home from a Terry Foskett cross.

The second half brought further goals, Donovan chipping the ball over the keeper from close range, before Johnson grabbed his fourth with a spectacular finish.

Foskett added a seventh and then Donovan completed his first Wood hat-trick with a 30-yard screamer. The same player then added another to round off a superb night for Wood.
