Arsenal ladies on course for double
Arsenal stayed on course for a domestic double with a comprehensive 6-0 victory at rock-bottom Cardiff City.
England winger Karen Carney was the catalyst for Arsenal's 14th successive league win of the season, with two goals in the opening 18 minutes.
Her international colleague, Kelly Smith, scored the third goal in the 24th minute and yet another England star, Lianne Sanderson, struck twice in five minutes to give the champions a five-goal advantage at the interval.
Wales captain Jayne Ludlow made it six after 51 minutes and Vic Akers' side eased off the accelerator with the points comfortably in the bag.
Arsenal's win took them 10 points clear of second-placed Bristol Academy. The leaders have three games in hand on their nearest rivals.
The Gunners travel to Doncaster this evening.
