Belstone 1 Old Road 0 . . .

Premier Division . . .

A depleted Belstone, without any recognised strikers available, beat Old Road to maintain their push to retain the Premier Division title.

Full-bck Steve Huckle played as a lone striker, due to injuries and unavailability.

Belstone packed out the midfield and tried to keep the ball on the immaculate pitch.

The only goal of the game came midway through the first half, when a Mark Blackburne corner fell kindly to defender Tom Merritt, who slotted the ball between defenders into the back of the net.

The second half saw Belstone do enough to keep the lead, preventing any Old Road chances.

Old Road had a few long-range efforts which were well dealt with by keeper Rob Blackburne.

After impressing recently in the reserves, Jake Weisman and Rob Wellington came on in attacking positions to try to keep possession.

Tom Merritt came closest to scoring again for Belstone, but headed wide at the far post from a Billy Hunter corner.

Belstone now move up to fourth place, seven points off the top.
