VOLUNTEERS from the St Albans and Harpenden Stroke Club will be raising awareness of the deadly disease in the city centre today.
The club will be offering information and advice about the UK's third biggest killer at Boots the chemist in St Peters Street from 11am until 4.30pm.
The event is one in a series of activities taking place across the country on Stroke Awareness Day (May 13) aimed at raising the public's awareness of stroke.
Claire McAuliffe, UK Stroke Club coordinator for The Stroke Association, said: "Our thanks go to St Albans and Harpenden Stroke Club for organising this event to raise awareness of stroke in the local community, and we would urge local people to go along and learn how to avoid becoming a statistic of the country's third biggest killer."
