A man has been ordered to pay over £900 after he was caught using his phone while driving on the motorway near Watford. 

Hajri Terziu, 37, appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court yesterday, April 17, accused of using his mobile while behind the wheel of his Seat Ibiza on the M1 on October 6, 2023.

Terziu, of Great Cambridge Road, Edmonton, was found guilty and ordered to pay £939 in total, of which there was a £242 fine. 

He also paid £600 in court costs, a £97 victim surcharge and received six points on his licence.

Drijon Shehu, of Loates Lane, Watford, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 17, over multiple driving and drug offences committed on the previous day.

The 30-year-old was charged with driving a Toyota Aygo while disqualified, without insurance, possessing cannabis and obstructing a police constable who was conducting a search for drugs in Tottenhall Road, Enfield.

Seshu pleaded guilty to all offences and was remanded into custody ahead of sentencing at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on May 8.
