Thameslink have assured all passengers that services will keep running to assure that the 20,000 people who travelled into central London this morning on their trains, will be able to get home.
It will be running the usual number of eight trains an hour, stopping at all stations bar Kings Cross, but is warning all commuters to leave early to avoid crowds.
A spokesman for Thameslink said: "We are doing all we can to ensure as little disruption as possible for all our customers."
Bus services are expected to be running by 4pm today, with most of Barnet's services expected to be running.
London Underground will be closed for the rest of the day and is expected to resume service tomorrow morning.
Barnet roads are reported to be calm.
