Film-makers at Elstree Film and Television Studios have achieved a technological breakthrough with the movie Sky Captain.
The film took only 29 days to shoot, and uses blue-screen technology, whereby the actors are superimposed onto backgrounds, which are filmed separately. Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law will appear to be in New York, Nepal and the Himalayas, but actually shot the entire film on a sound stage in Borehamwood.
The late Laurence Olivier, who died 15 years ago, will appear in the movie, brought back to life with computer technology, with his dialogue provided by another actor.
