Berkhamsted Town 2
Potters Bar Town 3
Southern League Division One East

The Scholars dug deep to produce their most gutsy and resolute performance of the season.

Andy Martin struck in stoppage time to earn the points and lift Potters Bar further away from the drop zone. The visitors started the day just one point ahead of their hosts, so this was a massive game for both sides.

The Scholars made the worst possible start when Jean-Paul Marna slipped the ball beneath Chris Fitkin in the second minute to give the home side a lead that they retained until half-time.

The match sprang to life in the second half as Potters Bar began to take the game to their hosts. Carl Ashton had a dipping 30-yard drive inexplicably ruled out for offside, before Glenn Adams made sweet contact with a 35-yard volley which whistled past Sam Mazurek for the equaliser on 66 minutes.

Seven minutes later, the visitors went ahead when Ashton's corner was directed towards the goal by James Dickie. The ball looked to be heading towards Mazurek, but clipped a defender's head and looped into the net.

A dubious penalty ten minutes from time got Berkhamsted back in it, but, in the fifth of seven added minutes, Martin appeared at the far post to score the winner.

Potters Bar entertain on-form Enfield FC on Saturday.
