AN elderly woman was killed this morning after her car collided with an ambulance near the village of Bell Bar.
Police say the unnamed woman, 81, was travelling along the Great North Road towards Hatfield when her red Vauxhall Corsa collided head on with an ambulance answering a non-emergency call in Brookmans Park at around 10am.
Two women riding in the front of the ambulance received only minor injuries but the driver of the car, said to be from the village of Essendon, died at the scene.
