The funeral of 15-year-old Billy Cox, who died after being shot in his north Clapham home, took place this afternoon.

The service at West Norwood Cemetery, Norwood High Street, started at 11.45am.

Billy bled to death in his sister's arms in his family's ground-floor council flat on the Fenwick estate in Clapham North on Valentine's Day at around 3.30pm.

There were no signs of forced entry at the house but the back door was open and police believe Billy may have known his attackers.

Billy was allegedly a member of the Clap Town Kids, a Clapham gang whose rivals include the PDC Crew in Brixton and the Blood Set in Peckham.

He was one of three young men to be killed in a spate of shootings in Febuary.

James Andre Smartt-Ford, a 16-year-old, was shot at Streatham Ice Areana on February 3.

He was gunned down in front of other skaters during an ice disco.

A second boy, Michael Dosunmu, was shot and killed after gunmen broke into his Peckham home in the early hours of February 6. He had celebrated his 15th birthday just a few days earlier.

Billy is survived by his mum Kim, dad Tom, and sister Elizabeth - who have been rehoused.

His murder is being investigated by officers from the Met Police's Operation Trident.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Valentine said: "We have spoken to very many people in the area who knew Billy and his family.

The whole neighbourhood was shocked at Billy's death. Murder is very rare in this area.

"I am appealing to anyone who has information or was in the vicinity of Fenwick Place to make themselves known to us if you have not already.

"We need every scrap of information you have to help us build a picture of Billy's last moments until he suffered the fatal gun shot wound.

"We know that Billy left Acre Lane, Brixton, at 2:36pm on Wednesday afternoon and then made his way home to Fenwick Place. Did you see him on that journey, either on a bus or underground train or even walking? Please let us know."

Police spoke to around 500 people in the week following Billy's murder, but have yet to catch his killer.

Anyone with information should call 020 8247 4553 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
