Cat shot with crossbow - again

A family pet was left with a punctured lung after being shot with a crossbow bolt for the second time in three months.

Black and white cat Pepsi came home with a blue arrow sticking out of either side of his chest on Tuesday, April 10.

He was shot with an identical blue plastic bolt earlier this year and had a shaft embedded in his neck.

Owner Darleen Matthews, 38, of Elmbank Avenue, Egham, Surrey, said: "Whoever did this must be sick. It's unbelievable they would do this to an animal.

"Pepsi is lucky to be alive. It has happened twice now and we are worried it will happen again."

"When Pepsi wandered in he was really quiet and wasn't himself at all. Then to our horror we noticed he had an arrow sticking out of him.

"He was not bleeding much that we could see but we were panicked to see him in that state.

"The vet said it just missed his heart and punctured his lung and caused internal bleeding."

Pepsi spent a week at the vet's and will need regular check-ups. It is hoped he will make a full recovery.

RSPCA inspector David Johnson branded the latest attack disgusting and is determined to track down the culprit.
