Detectives investigating a murder outside a grocery store in Brixton will be handing out leaflets written in six languages over the weekend in an appeal for information.

Police have already carried out a similar appeal earlier this week in Atlantic Road, Brixton where Khalilulah Naseri was stabbed to death by a member of a gang in Brixton on Saturday evening.

Leaflets written in Farzi, Urdu, Hindi, Pashdu and Sorami as well as in English will be handed out to market traders and the public over the weekend.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Duthie, said: "The investigation is progressing but we need everyone who saw the murder or Thursday's incident to make contact with us.

"Khaliluhah died in tragic circumstances and we can make every community safer by removing those who use knives indiscriminately."

In a month's time, the 24-year-old failed asylum seeker was due to return to Afghanistan to marry in a month's time.

Two fellow shop workers - one thought to be Mr Naseri's cousin - were hospitalised in the attack.

Witnesses said a gang of black men stormed in and stabbed Mr Naseri. They fled, leaving their victim on the pavement. Cops and paramedics arrived after being called at 7.38pm but Mr Naseri died at the scene.

It is believed staff at M.S. Nasseri confronted a thief who had tried to steal two oranges on Thursday. It is thought the shoplifter returned on Saturday with his gang.

Chief Superintendent Sharon Rowe, Lambeth Borough commander, stressed the murder was an isolated incident.

She added: "I would like to assure you that we are doing everything we can to locate those involved. We currently have two dedicated teams from Brixton police patrolling Brixton town centre and they are working with the community to reduce the fear of crime."
