Hendon play-off hopes dented
Hendon saw their Ryman League Premier Division play-off hopes take a blow on Tuesday night.
The Greens were beaten 1-0 by relegation-threatened Boreham Wood at Claremont Road.
The visitors scored the only goal of the game after just 17 minutes, Danny Barber finding the net with an excellent free-kick.
The hosts created a number of chances, particularly in the second half, but it was generally a disappointing performance against a Wood side that included a number of former Greens, including Mark Burgess, twin brother of James, who was a Hendon substitute.
Manager Gary McCann said: "If you don't take your chances you can't win games. That's the bottom line. I think that first-half performance was probably the worst 45 minutes of the season."
McCann's troops now sit outside the play-off zone and will be desperate to get back to winning ways this Saturday, when they travel to Hastings United. They are also in action on Tuesday, when they make the trip to Tonbridge Angels.
