Jaleo fuse the essential elements of flamenco with their own inimitable and charismatic brand of Spanish passion and emotion as they unleash the raw energy and sensuous rhythms inherent within flamenco.

The compelling power, passion, drama and sensuality will ooze through the body as Jaleo perform their stunning dance at The Harlequin Theatre on Wednesday, June 25 at 8pm - a hot slice of southern Spain in Redhill!

Since its beginnings during the early 19th century as the native music of a minority in the south-west corner of southern Spain, flamenco now emerges early in the new millennium as a highly respected and internationally accepted art form with a rapidly growing number of students world-wide.

Jaleo explore the sorrows, passion and colour of Andalusian life with a potent cocktail of explosive footwork, haunting singing, virtuoso guitar playing and percussive handclapping with some of flamenco’s finest award winning artistes.

Touring consistently over the past 15 years with some of Spain’s finest award winning exponents of authentic flamenco, the company of this expressive dance form.

With the inevitable crossover between global cultures, flamenco has both influenced and been influenced by music from other traditions and a type of ‘new wave’ hybrid flamenco has appeared.

With regard to this, Jaleo balance the new with the old, maintaining a focus on the future whilst being firmly rooted in the traditions of the past. The result is a fresh, innovative approach to each performance within the strict boundaries of flamenco.
