Shenley Village 296-3 Harpenden Cavaliers 200-6 Upul Tharanga was the star in Shenley's win against Harpenden Cavaliers with a 96-run victory at the Shenley Cricket Centre.
The Sri Lankan influence in the Sunday Shenley side was apparent to see as the fluent openers of Tharanga and Senanayake rode their luck.
Tharanga went on to make a glorious 93 and in the process hit 16 fours and one six. Vernon Senanayake had been more sedate to start with but made the most of his earlier luck and went into attack mode. He was joined by Kosala Kulasekara at number three to give him company. Soon he too was in his element as he went on to make a sprightly 37. Captain Sam Seinthan (30) came in to give support as Senanayake retired on 79. Dilip Tahil came to the crease to see out the innings. In the last over Seinthan was bowled Shenley had reached a massive 296 for the loss of three wickets. The opposition had an uphill struggle but they completed their innings on a respectable 200 for 6. SHENLEY VILLAGE: Tharanga, Senanayake, Kulasekara, Seinthan (capt), Tahil, Rajasekaran, S Sangaran, Davenall, Shelley, Mohammed, Roseman.
