Things looked bleak as old hand Stubbs (26 not out) and 13-year-old Morgan Stanley were thrust together, at 123-6. However, the duo shared an impressive 54-run partnership, before Stanley (26) was bowled.
Clarke was bowled in the penultimate over, bringing the innings to a close on 202.
In reply, things began well when Clarke had the opener caught behind with two on the board.
Shenley chipped away at the batting order, but two disputed LBW decisions not given took the game away from them.
