Frater pens new deal
Ryan Frater, the St Albans City defender, has signed a deal until the end of next season, while Reiss Noel, Marcel McKie and Hasim Deen have been released.
Luke Thurlbourne, the promising Southend United midfielder that enjoyed a loan spell with Saints, is also wanted back by Castle on a season-long loan.
"Luke is an excellent player who has signed a contract at Southend which means he now falls under Dean Austin's (Southend reserve team coach) regime," added Gibson.
"I'm sure it will be in the interests of Southend to give us Luke back as he will be playing every week in games that are often more competitive that some reserve games. We haven't spoken to Dean about it yet but they have first call on him and they might feel they can do better with him over the year."
Saints are not just progressing on the player recruitment front. The club hopes to install a new commercial director after club director Nick Archer held positive talks with a potential candidate recently.
"There is a realisation from the board that we must improve all commercial aspects of the club," stressed the chairman. "It was pretty impossible in the position we were in last season."
The club are also set to conclude a new two year deal with shirt sponsors Oaklands College.
