Castle set to commit to City

Steve Castle says he will be the manager of St Albans City FC next season unless something "extraordinary" happens.

Castle supervised City's great escape after being placed in caretaker charge following the dismissal of Dave Anderson, and chairman John Gibson appears to have persuaded the former Peterborough midfield to take on the job full-time next season.

"We are looking at me doing it," said Castle. "It would be extraordinary circumstances if I didn't. My decision isn't final. It depends on my family situation, keeping these lads together and everybody's support."

Talks have already begun with the likes of Akanni-Sunday Wasiu and Paul Hakim in a bid to keep them at Clarence Park next season.

"I'm hoping we can keep everybody together and maybe with a couple of additions we could really push for something," said Castle.

"We have started initial talks to keep the ones we have got. Hopefully we can get them tied up as soon as possible. But we are having keep up with incredible budgets, but if we can generate more interest and get more people in through the gates then that will help."
