RADLETT suffered a disappointing start to their season as they crashed to a seven-wicket defeat at home to High Wycombe in Home Counties Division One.

Skipper Shane Burger was the only batsman to make any impression on Saturday, as he finished unbeaten on 30, but his team-mates failed to perform as Radlett collapsed to 92 all out.

Paul Sawyer did most of the damage as he took five for 39 as the hosts endured a punishing day.

The visitors had no problem easing to the total for the loss of only three wickets.

Radlett face a difficult trip to Slough on Saturday as they look to get their first win of the campaign.

Harpenden got off to a flyer in Division Two East as they cruised to an impressive six-wicket win over Langleybury.

Sulaman Qadir took five wickets as Langleybury reached 243 for eight from 60 overs. Chris Roe also assisted the side by claiming three Langleybury wickets.

It was not an easy target but Harpenden found their form and made a decent start, led by Will Bates. The opener batted superbly as he hit an unbeaten 108 to lead the hosts over the finishing line. Adam Winchester also helped out with a knock of 74 as they reached the total after 48.5 overs.

Harpenden will be looking to continue their encouraging start to the season with a trip to Hertford this weekend.

Meanwhile, St Albans strolled to a 219-run victory over Hoddesdon in Division One of the Herts League.

They reached an impressive total of 348 for six from their 50 overs which was always going to push the visitors to the limit. But excellent bowling from St Albans helped them get Hoddesdon all out for just 129 after 33 overs.
