The new football season is now just around the corner and Boreham Wood FC are doing all they can to encourage local residents to embrace it.

The Meadow Park outfit have lined up a cracking pre-season schedule, with a number of Football League clubs coming to town.

And, with one of the cheapest season tickets in the Ryman League Premier Division on offer, they are hoping attendances will swell in the coming weeks.

With a new manager at the helm, Ian Allinson, there is much optimism for the coming campaign.

The first friendly takes place in just over a week, when League Two newcomers Luton Town will be bringing their first-team squad to Meadow Park.

Another League Two side, Dagenham & Redbridge, follow just two days later.

The pre-season schedule also includes home games against Championship side Watford (the Hornets are also expected to bring their first-team squad) and Blue Square Premier League favourites Stevenage Borough.

Also on the agenda is a home clash with an Arsenal XI.

Allinson has also arranged an away game at Stotfold, the club he left to return to Wood in the summer.

The new Ryman League Premier Division campaign begins on Saturday, August 16.

* Boreham Wood season tickets for adults are just £120, while local schoolchildren can watch every league game at home for a total of just £5.
